Rashad Evans Granted Title Shot With Forrest
UFC President Dana White confirmed in the post-fight conference that Rashad Evans will indeed get an immediate title shot at Forrest Griffin, something that had been previously promised to Chuck Liddell.

Many thought that the elusive Evans and the elusive Machida should do battle to find the #1 contender, but White disagreed, granting the shot to Rashad Evans. The fight is expected to take place at UFC 92.

I hope so also Krav138.
But after seeing Chuck go down like that because of his lack of aggression, I don't know if I can order andy more PPV's.
:(
I'm still in disbelief.

I agree with you both. PPV is going to have to be deeper with the card to really pull the money in. When Joe Rogan screams "this card is sick", I sometimes feel like I'm being sold rather than being assured. We ALL knew Rashad was going to be "athletic" which basically means run and counter punch, but Chuck should have known that you NEVER EVER EVER through an uppercut without a stiff jab....and keep your chin down. Old habits finally caught up to Chuck. He'll be back, Rashad will beat Forrest (boring fight), and will be the next Mayweather of MMA.

Whoa you think Evans-Griffin will be boring?!?! They both are extremely talented and they both can take a lot of punishment...especially Forrest. That's no recipe for a boring fight in my mind.

I don't think it'll be hard to order the PPVs. Look at UFC 91. That shit is nasty. Couture-Lesnar?! Stevenson-Florian?! Probably Rampage-Wanderlei?! Plus Amir Sadollah's first fight since TUF. Naaasty.

The system worked the way it's supposed to. Evans beat Chuck, former champ, former number one, and Evans gets the shot. Personally, I think Lyoto Machida should be the first match for whoever wins Griffin/Evans. I've seen how a lot of Madness fans think Machida and Evans are runners, but all I can say is that all they both know how to do is win, even if you don't like how they do it. Evans doesn't have the fan base Chuck has, probably never will, and Chuck Liddell deserves all the accolades and all the fan fanaticism he's generated over the years, but today is a new day. Rashad stood tall in the cage and put Chuck down, for which he should be accorded a warrior's respect. He may never earn the kind of fan loyalty Liddell enjoyed, but don't disrespect his moment in the sun. Griffin/Evans should be a bruising contest, and I'll look forward to seeing whether Rashad can outlast Forrest in what promises to be a war of attrition.

I think this says a lot about the message Dana is sending to the rest of the division. "Don't just win....Demolish"! It's fights and finishes like that which will keep people talking and coming back. Boring fighters will never get a shot before a fighter that has an awesome highlight reel.

J Arnold, as much as I'd like to see Forest vs Bonner 3 in the shape of Forrest vs Rashad 1, I just don't see the styles matching up that way. I think Rashad is too athletic for Forest, and will frustrate him to a win.

As for 91, Florian has too much momentum for Stevenson. Stevenson cuts a lot of weight and will not have the power (or technique) to beat Florian. Rampage vs Silva 3 would be interesting as well as entertaining. Amir Sadollah...riiiiiiight.

Make no mistake, I understand the game of an outside fighter vs flatfooted-pivot strikers. I've never said THAT was what was boring. What I think is boring is when a fighter doesn't bite down on his mouthpiece and face the storm. Rashad did that, and came out the victor, but Chuck's mistake made a WORLD of a difference.

Rashad doesn't deserve this yet. He needs to beat Machida first.

Rashad vs Machida would go down as the second most boring fight ever. But, Defrage is right....
